Coach Streeter
Age: 37
Grade: Graduated from MIT in 1990, with an MSE in
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Number of years on team: 3 years as a coach
What I learned this year in FLL:
I learned that there are
a surprising number of technological devices to aid library use for people
with disabilities. However, these devices are frequently underutilized
simply because many of those who could benefit from such technology haven't
been informed that it even exists!
My favorite mission from 'No Limits' and why:
I would
have trouble picking a single favorite mission, as there are three
missions which I really like:
- 1. The Stairs, as the "flop-down" strategy is such a simple, quick
approach to getting up the stairs. It also mirrors the approach
used by many individuals with disabilities to get where they need
to go!
- 2. The "Ball Extractor", since this mission ended up involving the
ideas, refinement, revision, and testing of most of the team members
through the many iterations in the life of this attachment.
- 3. The Chairs / Dinner mission, for three different reasons! First,
it is amazing to see the robot push in the chairs and set the food
on the table simultaneously; second, the attachment was a joint effort
by many team members, through numerous stages of refinement, and third,
it has two neat names -- "The Lobster Attachment" and "The Love Hug."
Other hobbies and interests I have:
Favorite quote:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
Favorite memory from Atlanta or what I am looking
forward to or both: Seeing our quiet, reserved Vickie
leading our Alliance team from Alaska, Mississippi, New Hampshire, and
North Carolina in development of the song for the alliance!
